Indonesia Blockchain Society Represents Indonesia in “Governance for New Leadership” Program in Bali

Bali, 7–14 September 2025 — Indonesia Blockchain Society is honored to represent Indonesia in the prestigious “Governance for New Leadership” program, which is being held at the renowned Merusaka Bali as part of the PBA Bali Program. This week-long event brings together leading academics, policymakers, innovators, and practitioners from around the world to strengthen knowledge and leadership in the rapidly evolving field of blockchain governance.

The “Governance for New Leadership” program is designed as an intensive and comprehensive learning experience. Over seven days, participants will examine the foundations of blockchain technology, delve into the principles of cryptography and economics that underpin distributed systems, and discuss the shifting landscape of custody and non-custody models. Through guided exercises, including hands-on engagement with Decentralized Autonomous Organisations (DAOs), the program provides a unique opportunity to experience how decentralized decision-making works in practice.

A major focus of the program is on governance mechanism design and the development of competence frameworks for blockchain governance. Participants are introduced to regulatory equivalence approaches and explore how different jurisdictions are addressing the challenges of integrating blockchain-based systems into existing legal and regulatory structures. This includes a dedicated exploration of the OpenGov model used within the Polkadot ecosystem as an example of on-chain governance in action.

Another key element of the program is its emphasis on the public value of blockchains. Participants are invited to consider the broader societal implications of these technologies by examining the general fields of application, successful case studies, and the key drivers and barriers for public adoption. By engaging with global experts, the Indonesia Blockchain Society aims to gain insights into how blockchain can enhance transparency, accountability, and efficiency in both public and private sectors, and how these lessons can be applied within Indonesia’s context.

The Indonesia Blockchain Society’s participation underscores the country’s commitment to fostering responsible blockchain innovation and enhancing public trust in emerging technologies. As a leading organization in the Indonesian blockchain ecosystem, the Society views this program as a significant opportunity to deepen its expertise, broaden its international networks, and bring back actionable knowledge to support the sustainable growth of blockchain adoption and governance in Indonesia.

Speaking on behalf of the delegation, a representative from the Indonesia Blockchain Society stated, “We are proud to represent Indonesia in this important forum. Blockchain is not only about technology; it is about building governance models that create public value and trust. This program provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn, collaborate, and exchange perspectives with some of the world’s most respected experts in the field.”

Upon completion of the program, the Indonesia Blockchain Society plans to disseminate key takeaways and recommendations to relevant stakeholders, policymakers, and the wider blockchain community in Indonesia. This initiative is expected to support the development of stronger governance frameworks and more effective policies that can accelerate Indonesia’s position as a leader in blockchain innovation within the region.

The “Governance for New Leadership” program at Merusaka Bali reflects a growing recognition of the need for capable and informed leaders who can navigate the complex interplay between technology, regulation, and public interest. For Indonesia Blockchain Society, it represents not only a milestone in its institutional journey but also a stepping stone toward a more inclusive, transparent, and innovative digital future for the nation.
